This place is layers. I've lived within three blocks of Piedmont Place since 2004. For the first twelve or so years I was afraid to go in because of all the ne'er-do-well-ish-looking characters hanging around the front door - turns out that's because there are no less than FOUR bus-stops on the corner (and, turns out the ne'er-do-wells are harmless). Once I got the nerve to go inside, I was delighted to find a comfortable place with reasonably-priced drinks and friendly service. There's a ping-pong table in the front and pool tables on the other side, but there's just something weird with the feng shui that I can't quite put my finger on; the first room just feels strangely empty. Now here's where it gets good: about four years ago I realized they have a back patio and it's AMAZING. This is what I'm talking about with the layers: sketchy outside > strange feng shui inside > amazeballs back patio. I took the decade-long-plus journey so you don't have to; enjoy the patio at Piedmont Place after playing ping-pong in your pajamas. I, of course, recommend the pilsner.

I have never met a stranger here. The owner tends bar and remembers every face all the time. The video lottery also is always hot. Don't miss out on that patio especially in the summer. They have a basketball hoop in the back and several tvs. Pool tables ping pong honestly I dont know why this place isn't always packed.

RIP Marve, one of the great bartenders of all time. From Petersburg, Virginia. He made his way out to Portland and served a few meatball subs and red stripes to me as a young man.I feel like this place has kept his spirit around. They got great food and it’s a place you can spend all day. Not sure if they still do this but back in the day they would put ice in the urinals. What a treat! If you have a day to kill go spend it at Piedmont Place. Tell them you heard about a legend name Marve….

Open space not really clear what it’s all needed for. It looks aged, like place was so much more in another time. Guests were mainly there to gamble. Bartender was friendly and attentive to the entire bar. Machines were full at all times with a wait. Happy hour seems like a pretty good deal. Bathrooms kept up with not spotless.

Best patio in Portland! Covered areas with fire pits and TV's. Beautiful outdoor space with patio tables, a hammock, and a half court basketball court! Also pool and ping pong inside. Great neighborhood bar and great people! I had the cheddar bacon hamburger sliders today and they are bomb. Fresh cut fries too
